"My Sister & My Girlfriend" October Flavors of the month kit, The ScrapRoom kit club

I love how the Flavors of the month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club gives you some holiday themed products, but it also gives you collections that you can use for everyday photos. Such as this one from My Mind's Eye called "Gal Meets Glam". The colors were prefect for this single page about me and my older sister.

Products used: Simple Stories Dream Big + Embellishment Kit
Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); Letter stickers (Doodlebug Design Inc.); Purple and White Cardstocks; Hexagon punch (Creative Memories)
Notes: Since the prints in these papers did not blend well with the theme of my photos, I punched them out with my hexagon punch and then created a background with them. I find that with this trick, the eye would not focus so much in the prints of the paper but rather the design you can create with them. I also added some of the chipboard and die cut shapes here to complement my photos and story.

And here are some close ups....

Have a great rest of the week everyone.

Till next time,
Grace

Owl cards- October Flavors of the month kit, The ScrapRoom kit club

Are you all ready for Halloween? Can't believe is right around the corner. Did you make some costumes this year? I'm half dreading and half excited about costumes this year. Some of my kids' choices were super easy and others, well, let's just say, they're making me rethink my crafting abilities. LOL

Speaking of Halloween, I'd like share some cards that I created with this month's Flavors of the month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club. I paired them with some adorable Owl stamps from Sunny Studios.
Products used: Doodlebug Design Inc- Pumpkin Party
Stash items used: Stamp (Sunny Studios); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); Alcohol markers (Spectrum Noir); Nuvo drops; Rectangle die (Memory Box); Purple Cardstock; Card bases
Notes: I really enjoyed creating this card set. I recently purchased the Owl stamp set from Sunny Studios and had already stamped them on a piece of white cardstock. I just colored them in and hand cut them so they can be the focal point of my cards. I then layered the scraps of paper to create each card. I used the same sketch for each one to make my process go faster.

And here are a couple of close ups....

I hope you have a fantastic day.

"Gather Here" October Flavors of the month kit, The ScrapRoom kit club

What is your favorite part of fall? For me it would be the cooler temperature and all the apple and pumpkin treats that I can eat. :) I also like being outdoors and the photos in this page is an example of that. This double page layout is an extra project that I was able to create with this month's Flavors of the month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club

Products used: Photoplay Paper Fall Breeze + Embellishment Kit
Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); White Cardstock; Border punch (Fiskars)
Notes: Even though I only had scraps from this collection left, I was still able to create a two page layout, all because I had plenty of photos to add. I laid out my photos first and then filled up the empty spaces of my white cardstock with pattern paper scraps. I even used some strips as a diagonal accent to the page. I wanted to incorporate more “nature” into the page so I used the kraft cardstock within the kit and punched out a leaf border with it, and then placed it on the bottom of the page. After that I added a combination of stickers and die cuts to decorate the rest of the page.

And here are some more close ups...

Thank you for stopping by.

"Experiment" October Flavors of the month kit, The ScrapRoom kit club

Hi guys. If you've been following me for a while, you know I'm a sucker for page sketches. The latest one from The ScrapRoom kit club was so adorable and very versatile that I couldn't pass it up.

And here's my take on the sketch....
Products used: American Crafts/Vicki Boutin Field Notes + Embellishment Kit
Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); Letter stickers (American Crafts); Border punch (EK Success)
Notes: I created this with this month’s sketch in mind. I love how the artsy feel of the paper worked well with these photos of my daughter and her friend doing a science experiment. The “messy” aspect of the papers worked well with the trial and error part of the experiment.
After I had placed my photos and the banner papers on the top of the page, I didn’t know exactly where to place my title. I opted to do it vertically on the bottom left since there were no horizontal space that would work.

And here are some close ups....

Do you like this sketch? What page would you make with it?

"Hello Birthday Girl" October Flavors of the month kit, The ScrapRoom kit club

Hi guys. How's your week going so far? I hope you are getting your "crafty" on.

Today I'm sharing my 4th "assignment" page for the latest Flavors of the Month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club. It is also my "recipe" layout so if you are a subscriber, make sure to check out my recipe card so you can recreate this layout.
Products used: My Mind’s Eye- Gal Meets Glam + Embellishment kit
Stash items used: Purple Cardstock; Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); Letter stickers (Piggy Tales); Border punch (EK Success)
Notes: This is my “recipe” layout assignment for this month. I had a little bit of a hard time working with the papers just because the design was not “me”. But that just shows you that even though certain prints might not speak to you at first, just think it over a little bit and you will eventually figure out how to blend it with your existing style.
For this page, I opted to work with the more simple designed paper. I used the sides with the glasses and clips although they have no connection with my photos. I chose them mostly for the color that they can bring to my page. I then used a combination of die cuts and chipboard pieces to finish my layout.

and here's the process video that goes with this page...

And here are some close ups...

Thank you so much for stopping by. Let me know what you think about this page and the patterns on this collection in the comment section of this post. I'm curious if you like it or not.

"1st Haircut" October Flavors of the month kit, The ScrapRoom kit club

Hi guys. Today I'm sharing my 3rd assignment layout for this month's Flavors of the month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club. It is also my take on this month's Freaky Fast Friday challenge.

Products used: Photoplay Paper- Fall Breeze
Stash items used: Epoxy letter stickers (SEI); Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite things); White Cardstock; Corner Rounder punch (EK Success)
Notes: I created this with this month’s Freaky Fast Friday challenge in mind. I have to say, I had a hard time mixing the precut papers into this page. I moved it a few times before I was absolutely happy with it. I probably would never have thought about mixing those measurements together, but I learned a lot and I’m glad I pushed through the challenge.
My photo wasn’t necessarily “fall” theme or was even taken during the fall season but the colors in my son’s jammies blended well with the products.

And here's my process video for this page...

and some close ups...

If you have not played along in this challenge, I urge you to try it out. You might surprise yourself with the results. I know I always feel that way.

Till next time,
Grace

"Boo-tastic" October Flavors of the month kit, The ScrapRoom kit club

I love the month of October. It is the month of my daughter's birthday and then we have Halloween at the end of the month. But it is also the month where the busyness of the holidays start. How do you feel about it?

Today I'm sharing the second page I created with this month's Flavors of the Month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club. It features the Doodlebug Design Inc, Pumpkin Party collection.

Products used: Doodlebug Design Inc- Pumpkin Party
Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); Letter stickers (American Crafts); Border punch (Fiskars)
Notes: I love themed products but very themed and busy one like the papers in this collection was a challenge for me. I like my “generic” prints and so having to incorporate the banner, spider and pumpkin prints took a bit of moving around to finally get it where I was happy with it. Despite the busyness of the prints, they worked well together if you cut them in smaller pieces. I was also delighted to use the die cuts and the enamel googley eyes. They were pretty adorable.

And here's a look at my process in creating this page...

and here are some close ups...

Hope you all have a crafty day.

Till next time,
Grace

"Life is an Adventure" October 2018 Flavors of the Month kit, The ScrapRoom kit club

Happy Wednesday friends. It's a new month, and that means there is a new Flavors of the month kit from The ScrapRoom. For my first layout share, I'm sharing my page created with the American Crafts/Vicki Boutin "Field Notes" collection.

Products used: American Crafts/Vicki Boutin Field Notes
Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); Letter stickers (Authentique); Nuvo Drops (Black)
Notes: Once I saw the page with all the flowers, I knew that I had to handcut them.  They became a really bold design for this page of my daughter. And it worked well since most of the images were simple except for the color of the leaves in the background. I added some of the flowers with foam adhesive to show dimension and add more interest. I also added some black Nuvo drops to some of the flower centers for a more finished look.

Here's the process video for this:
