"Quilt Scrap Background Card Set" (June Flavors of the Month Kit from The ScrapRoom kit club)

Hello there, my crafty friends. Here are some cards that I were able to create with my scraps from this month's Flavors of the Month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club.

Products used: Some FOTM mini kits combined + Embellishment kit
Stash items used: card bases (Recollections); Sentiment stamp (Inspired By Stamping); Ink (Versamark, Tsukineko); Copper embossing powder (source unknown); Rhinestones (Doodlebug Design Inc.)
Notes:
I always make my cards last when it comes to creating with the FOTM kit. I find that the scraps always inspire me to what kind of cards I end up with. With this set, I cut the scrap paper into 2” squares and then laid them diagonally onto a 4x5 ¼” piece of scrap paper. I trimmed whatever excess hang over the large paper piece and then added my “quilt” design background onto a card base.
Since this background is so busy, I didn’t have to take too much time to add the sentiment and a sticker accent. Everything came together with the addition of some rhinestones in three different spots on the card.

And here's the close ups of the cards...

I hope this card set inspired you to create something fun today.

Till next time,
Grace

"Smores Day" (June Flavors of the Month Kit from The ScrapRoom kit club)

I can't believe we are almost done with this month. But before we say goodbye to June, let me share with you a layout that I created with this month's Flavors of the Month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club. This one was also based on this month's sketch challenge.

Products used: Some FOTM mini kits combined + Embellishment kit
Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Distress mini ink pad, Hybrid Ink My Favorite Things); Corner rounder punch (Creative Memories); Letter stickers (Teresa Collins, Source unknown)
Notes:
This is my “extra” project for the month. I based the design of my layout with this month’s sketch. I love the multi-photo aspect of the sketch and couldn’t pass up trying it for these photos of my kids enjoying some Smores treat on “Smores day”. I combined a few pattern papers from the different FOTM mini kits and I love that they can coordinate well, even though they’re from different collections. I finished off the page with some stickers.

Here are some close ups of the page...

I hope you'll play along with this month's ScrapRoom kit club challenges.

Till next time,
Grace

"Favorite Dad" (Monthly Celebrations YouTube blog hop 2019)

Hello my friends. I don't remember if I have ever mentioned the "Monthly Celebration" YouTube blog hop that I'm participating in this year but below is my June layout and video. If you remember, I did this year long hop with my scrappy bff Nicole (ColieBing on YouTube) about two years ago. We loved it so much that we decided to do it again, and this time we invited a few more talented and very inspiring YouTubers to join us. If you want to check out past videos, make sure to check out the link on the side bar of this page. That will take you directly to my YouTube channel.

For this month's page, I decided to go with a well known and well loved June celebration, which is Father's day. These photos were actually from 2013 so I'm glad that I was able to scrap it. If you want to see more of my process about this page, please hit "play" on the video below...

"Choose Happiness" (June Flavors of the Month Kit from The ScrapRoom kit club)

Hi there friends. Today I'm sharing another layout using this month's Flavors of the Month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club. This one is a double page layout and I just love how these papers from Bella Blvd is so striking against the blue background. Do you have a favorite color combo? I'm starting to really dig this yellow, blue and green one.
Products used: Bella Blvd. “Let’s Go on an Adventure” + Embellishment kit
Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Distress mini ink pad, Hybrid Ink My Favorite Things); White cardstock for photo mat.
Notes:
This page was created for the recipe assignment for this month. I really liked the colors of the paper and how they stand out against the blue cardstock background. I did a “mirror” type design on this page and I love how it turned out. I did mat my photos with white cardstock to make them stand out better against the pattern paper background. I added notches to paper strips that I placed on the page to break up the straight lines of the rest of the page. I strategically added the foam arrows in certain areas making the point of the arrow lead to my photos and story.

Here's the process video that goes with this page...

"Summer Fave" (June Flavors of the Month Kit from The ScrapRoom kit club)

Hello friends. Do you have a favorite scrapbook challenge? Mine would have to be the Freaky Fast Friday from The ScrapRoom kit club. I liked how you can create a layout with just a handful of papers. Sometimes they work out for me, and sometimes it takes a while for me to create a layout with such strict parameters. With this month's layout, I rebeled a little and changed the measurements a little.

Products used: Echo Park “Summer Ever” + Embellishment kit
Stash items used: Distress mini ink pad; Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Distress mini ink pad, Hybrid Ink My Favorite Things);
Notes:
This is my take on this month’s Freaky Fast Friday challenge. I deviated a little bit and cut the 2x12” paper into 4 ½” strips to make the border on my page. I think that goes against the rules somehow, but I like to live a little so I will be a rebel this month. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that my eye always looks for a border around my pages and that specific paper just seemed to fit the bill.
I then added the rest of the paper blocks on the center to create a center design. I also turned the squares into diamonds for a different look. With those diamond papers, I added my stickers, creating a visual triangle on my page.
These photos are of my youngest kid’s first swim in a pool. I like how the colors of the paper (being non watery themed) made the blue in my photos stand out. I also loved the stickers in the 12x12 sticker sheet, they were the perfect addition to complete my page.

Here's the process video for this page....

Here are some close ups of the layout too....

"Dream Come True" (June Flavors of the Month Kit from The ScrapRoom kit club)

I can't believe these photos were taken almost a year ago. It was definitely a dream come true now that I've graduated and got my degree. Have you had a dream that you've worked so hard for, that you have accomplished recently?

This page was created with the latest Flavors of the Month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club.
Products used: Pink Paislee “Horizon” + Embellishment kit
Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Hybrid Ink My Favorite Things); Butterfly punch (Martha Steward); Rhinestones (Doodlebug Design Inc.); Pen (American Crafts); Tiny alpha stickers (My Mind’s Eye)
Notes:
I had fun with this page. The inspiration for the butterflies came from the sunburst/rainbow pattern paper. I was able to use all the colors by punching out the butterfly shape from each sunburst. I finished each butterfly with a rhinestone to have a more finished look.
The “T” design is not my go-to design but I really liked how this turned out so I might do that again soon. The 3x4 horizontal photos fit perfectly across my page and I placed them in sequential order so you can follow my walk to accept my diploma from start to finish.

This is the process video to go with this layout....

And here are some more close ups....

"My Favorite" (June Flavors of the Month Kit from The ScrapRoom kit club)

Hello friends. How's your June so far? Well for us here, summer break has started and this week is the start of weeks of camps for my children. Did you go to camp when you were young? What was your favorite?

Speaking of favorite, here's my first layout from this month's Flavors of the Month kit from The ScrapRoom kit club. I titled it "My Favorite" because it shows two of my favorite young gentlemen.
Products used: Jillibean Soup “Rainbow Roux”
Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Distress mini ink pad, Hybrid Ink My Favorite Things); Twine (Doodlebug Design Inc.)
Notes:
I adored all of the pattern papers in this collection but I also knew that I would never be able to include them all, even if I was layering them. So to incorporate as much of them as I can, I cut them into strips, some ½” others wider, and laid them on the center of my page, going down the layout. I added my photos ¾” down to break up all of the paper strips. I then tucked in some tags, cut out from pattern paper, to add some different layers to the page. I added some twine to it to give it a finished look. I also cut out the title “My Favorite” from pattern paper and added that to the page with a twine plus some foam adhesive to make it stand out against the busy background. I sprinkled some stickers and die cuts to complete the page.

Here's the process video for this page...

And here are some more close ups....
