"Happy You" The Scrap Room Flavor of the Month kit, January 2018

Sometimes I try to find unique ways to showcase papers and in this page, I made them into tags. This is my 4th layout from the latest flavor of the month kit from The Scrap Room kit club. It is also my "recipe" assignment so if you are a subscriber you will get the instructions to recreate this page. 

Products used: Jillibean Soup “You Make MISO Happy” + Embellishment Kit

Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); Brown Twine (American Crafts); Tag die (Newton’s Nook); Scallop border punch (Fiskars)

Notes: I wanted something different with my design so I decided to show off the papers by making tags with them. I used a die to create the tags which helped make them all uniform in size and shape. I then added them to the page using some twine from my stash.

After adding the photos in the center of the layout, all I needed was to decorate it. And that was made easy by using the die cuts and enamel hearts that were included in the mini kit.

"Beautiful Day" The Scrap Room Flavor of the Month kit, January 2018

Hi there friends. Here's my latest layout using the January Flavor of the Month kit from The Scrap Room kit club. I love how these papers are so sophisticated. But I have to say that I also had a hard time finding photos that match it. It's pretty bold and needed some subdued images to go along with it. But I think I manage to find the right pictures, what do you think?

Products used: Fancy Pants Designs “The Yellow Door Collection” + Embellishment kit

Stash items used: Chipboard Thickers letters (American Crafts); Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things)

Notes: This specific mini kit had a bunch of die cut shapes, as well as a paper that had a bunch of cut aparts and I had wanted to maximize the products so I used most of them on the top, peeking out from my paper border. I also added them to the block of photos to fill in the empty spaces. It’s amazing how a little paper here and there made this page full without too much effort on my part.

The kit also came with tags and I used them here, adding the twine for some texture and dimension to the page.

Because the pattern papers were quite busy, I loved how the foam letters from the Embellishment kit stood out against all the busyness. I completed my title with another type of letter stickers, from my stash, which is also white.

"Shake Up The Routine" The Scrap Room Flavor of the Month kit, January 2018

This is my second page from the latest Flavor of the month kit from The Scrap Room kit club. Have you seen it? It is so awesome and the variation will inspire you. 

Products used: American Crafts/Shimelle “Head in the clouds”

Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); Scallop border punch (Fiskars)

Notes: I liked the patterns in this mini kit, but they were a little bit out of my comfort zone. Since the papers had busy designs on them already, I decided to create my embellishments within the images so as not to add more contrast or compete with the already existing patterns. I fuzzy cut some of the cameras and then added them right on top of the existing image with some foam adhesive. This way, I added some layers to my layout but didn’t have to introduce new designs/images.

"Hello Winter" The Scrap Room Flavor of the Month kit, January 2018

Hello friends and Happy New Year. This is my first post for 2019 and I still can't believe that we are already in this year, let alone days after the 1st. I hope you all had a great Christmas/Holiday season. I'm sharing my first layout using the latest Flavor of the month kit from The Scrap Room kit club. This is also my take on this month's sketch...

Products used: Simple Stories “Freezin’ Season”

Stash items used: Date stamp (Studio Calico); Ink (Black, My Favorite Things); Border punch (Fiskars); Pink Cardstock (DCWV); Glitter pen (Tonic Studios)

Notes: This page is my take on this month’s sketch. I didn’t have a 4x6 photo so I just placed my 3x4 on the top along with a 4x4 cut out from one of the papers. This block worked as my title block. I added some glitter on the word “winter” using some glimmer pen from my stash. I just love how this little touch added some shine to an otherwise flat element.

The 12x12 sticker sheet that came with the mini kit was chock full of fun embellishments and I used a lot of them in this page. I added some of them with foam adhesive to give my page layers and dimension.

I used a pink cardstock from my stash so that the photos can stand out against the busy background. I chose that specific color because it was in one of the pattern papers. Pulling out colors from the pattern papers will ensure that your cardstock choices match well with the rest of the papers.

"Enjoying This Stage" (September The ScrapRoom Flavors of the Month Kit)

Happy Sunday dear friends. Today I'm coming to you with my first project for The ScrapRoom for the month of September. It is also my take on this month's sketch. 

Products used: Pretty Little Studio- Savannah Dreams

Stash items used: Date Stamp; Black Ink pad; White Cardstock; My Mind’s Eye letter stickers; Twine, American Crafts; Circle Cutter, Creative Memories

Notes: This one was created with the latest TSR sketch in mind. The sketch called for 2 4x6 photos but I swapped it with a single 5x7 vertical photo. I added some circles cut out from pattern paper like the one on the sketch. I did have to add some twine from my own stash so I can incorporate the thread element in the sketch. I had trimmed the “enjoying” in my title from one of the pattern papers.

"Remember our quick Utah trip" layout *double page spread*

Hello friends and happy Tuesday. I hope that you are enjoying summer. I love this season but it has some drawbacks. One being that because I'm spending quality time with the kids outdoors, it's hard to get some time in my scrap room. It's all good though as we are creating memories for me to scrap later on. 

Today's layout was inspired by the latest Clique kit challenge. The challenge was "anything goes" and so because I had this pretty wide open theme, I went with my favorite....two page spread. My favorite part of this page....everything here is from my scraps pile. Can't beat that!

I got this photo collage printed at Costco and because it's an 8x10 piece, I decided to create a double page spread instead of trying to cram it in one 12x12 canvas. 

 I layered some stickers too which helped me finish off a sticker pack that I've been holding on to for a while now.

I'm loving long titles lately. It helps me use up my alpha stash.

I did some water coloring on the text piece of paper. I wanted the main color scheme of the page to be turquoise blue, mint green and yellow. Colors that stood out in my photos.

My Favorite Things layout *Stick It Down GDT post*

Last month, I submitted one of my layouts for the sketch challenge over at Stick It Down. I was fortunate to win among the great entries and part of that win is to be invited as a guest designer. The wonderful ladies over that challenge blog gave me this sketch to use...

and here's my take on it....

One of my purchases last month was a paper collection from My Mind's Eye called "Now and Then" and I used that in this layout. The pictures are of my daughter when she turned 7 years old (which was close to 3 years ago). I wanted the soft colors of the paper and the bold hues of her clothes in the picture to stand out so I used a grey cardstock as my base. I added some craft flowers in three different places on the layout and sprinkled some Mr. Huey white mist to add more interest.

I enjoyed playing along with this sketch and here are some more close ups...

Not So Happy Holidays layout *Inspired By Stamping*

Hello my crafty friends. We all have favorite holiday stories. Some funny, others heartwarming and there are a few that we use to bribe our kids in the future. The story I documented in this layout can be put in all of those categories. 

Not so happy holidays

When my daughter was little, she was super excited about Christmas. At three years old, she had grasped the idea of a special day where we open presents, presents that we had wished for. Well the one thing that she wasn't too keen about was the idea of Santa. The photo I used in this layout was of her clinging very tightly on my shirt while we talked with Santa Claus during a church Christmas party. I can still remember her hesitation while we were in line to meet the big fella. 

For this page, I used the Christmas tree, snowflake and deer images from the Build a Stocking Stamp set of Inspired By Stamping. I wanted my Christmas tree to have more depth to them so I heat embossed them with green powder.

I added a few snowflakes on the empty parts of my layout, just to give it more design.

I also did a lot of sticker and paper layering, something I'm enjoying a lot lately. Plus it lets me use up a lot of my stash.

Cheyenne Mountain layout

Advance Merry Christmas my dear friends. 

Today I'd like to share my last layout from my homemade scrapbook kit for this month. It's a two page spread! I haven't done that in a while.

This layout boasts of 15 pictures. How awesome is that? And because most of the pictures are printed at 2x3" there's room to add embellishments and pattern papers.

Sliding Down layout

And it's another layout share from me today. 

I have been loving putting together scrapbook kits from my own stash and this one was the fourth layout from the kit that I had put together this month. You can check the video of the supplies I've gathered here...

These pictures are from four years ago. I love looking at them as they show a "younger" version of the kiddos. Not that they're super old now but their facial features have definitely changed.

I have to admit to you that I don't like my title. I was trying to be clever and use up some letter stickers but I really don't like the idea of sliding down to joy. I will change the word "to" to "with" before I slip this layout into my album.

Pirate's Cove layout

Hi there crafty friends. Today I'm sharing a layout I created with some of my stash and was inspired by this sketch from the Stuck?! challenge blog.

These are pictures from our first trip to Pirate's Cove, up in the Denver area. We loved it so much that we've been going to it for the last three summers. Our summer won't be the same without a trip to this water park.Thankfully, each year we manage to score some awesome deals on entrance fee so we are able to go year after year.

I know that I should be thinking of Christmas colors and themes this season but I just love how bold and vibrant colors brings me back to summer, one of my favorite seasons.
